Happy Gilmore Is Back! Adam Sandler and Ben Stiller Spotted Filming Long-Awaited Sequel in New Jersey

Adam Sandler is back in the (golf) swing of it!

Filming for Happy Gilmore 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 1996 sports comedy classic, is underway — and both Sandler, 58, and costar Ben Stiller are back like they never left.

Photos captured on Friday, Nov. 8, show both of the actors on the set of the upcoming movie in Kearny, N.J.

Stiller, 58, has stepped seamlessly into his role again as the two-faced nursing home orderly — named Hal L., per his name tag — who lied to Happy (played by Sandler) about how his grandmother was being treated at the retirement home.

Gone is his orderly uniform, however — except for his signature name tag. Instead, Stiller was spotted rocking a patterned blue button-up shirt, a black vest and blue jeans, plus yellow aviator sunglasses and a horseshoe mustache.

He was also photographed side by side with stuntman Greg Fitzpatrick, who wore the same outfit and biker ‘stache.

Meanwhile, Sandler, who plays the titular hockey star-turned-pro golfer, was seen in a “Sandlercore” staple: a baggy hoodie and T-shirt.

The New Jersey set photos come more than six months after Christopher McDonald — who played Happy’s competitor Shooter McGavin in Happy Gilmore — let it slip that a sequel film was underway during a March 2024 interview.

Sandler confirmed the news the following month, and Netflix officially confirmed in May that the actor would be reprising his iconic role.

In addition to Stiller and McDonald, the cast of Happy Gilmore 2 will also include Travis Kelce and Benny Safdie, who will have “a juicy part,” Sandler told IndieWire in August.

The extent of Kelce’s involvement, meanwhile, remains unclear. On The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in August, Sandler said that “we have a nice something for Travis” and “he is going to come by.”

After announcing the NFL star’s role in the sequel, Sandler appeared on Kelce’s podcast New Heights to talk about the upcoming movie — and revealed a bit more about its plot.

“The movie itself picks up from an older guy who played golf a long time,” the comedian said at the time. “Some stuff goes on in his life, and he’s different — he’s a bit of a mess.”

“And then we try to get his life cooking again,” Sandler added.
